What is World Day of Prayer?

Imagine Christians from over 170 countries coming together in spirit, uniting to pray for relevant issues affecting women and children. This is a reality: the movement has been active for nearly 100 years. Each year, a different participating country writes the service. The World Day of Prayer is traditionally celebrated on the first Friday of March, though communities can choose other dates. To learn more, please visit WORLD DAY OF PRAYER CANADA .

This year's program was written by women in Slovenia, one of the smallest countries in Europe and a pretty young committee in the WDP movement. At the core of the theme, an invitation – Come; and to enable the response – Everything is ready. Come to praise, thank, and proclaim the kingdom of love.

The service in Campbell River is at 7 pm, March 1, 2019 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 34 S Alder Street.

The artwork, photo and biography of World Day of Prayer 2019 artist Rezka Arnuš reminds us that as we read their words, we are giving voice to the experiences and concerns of real women. Their words become our words; their prayers become our prayers.
